As a lipstick fiend ever on the hunt for an alternative to Bourjouis Rouge Edition Velvet, when the lovely people from BornPrettyStore contacted me with the opportunity to try some of their products, I of course chose the Me Now Generation 2 Lipgloss (although it is matte so the name 'lipgloss' is really rather misleading).
This product is shipped from abroad and therefore takes rather a long time to arrive (around 4 weeks) so is certainly not for those that would need it in a hurry. However, at only £ 2.01 each they are perfect for the budget concious or those that, like me, would like a matte liquid lipstick which is cheap enough to justify buying nearly every single shade!
After much deliberating, the shades I picked to test were numbers 26 and 28. 28 is the perfect classic red which would be perfect for any skin-tone and has quickly become my favourite lip colour. On the other side of the spectrum, shade 26 is a much more natural shade, being a nude/dusky pink. Although not the sort of colour that I typically wear, I love this for an every-day lip which isn't too bold.
In terms of the formula, this liquid lipstick is beautifully pigmented with good consistency which makes it very easy to apply with the doe foot applicator. Unfortunately it's lasting power isn't the best, wearing away in the centre of the lips and crumbling slightly. However, this crumbling issue is by no means as bad as the MUA Luxe Lip Lacquer and it does not have the drying aspect of the MUA version. I have found that with a little bit of practice, one can apply this product so as to minimise the crumbling by applying only a thin layer, especially in the centre of the lips where crumbling mostly occurs. Either way, the richness of the colour removes the need for a thick layer.
